What it does
Word to PDF converts .docx documents to PDF in your browser, keeping headings, lists, tables, images, bold, italic and links. Your document is never uploaded, which matters for contracts, CVs and HR files.
How to use it
- Open a
.docxfile. - Choose the type style (Calibri style, Arial style, Times style or Georgia) and the page setup.
- Check the preview, then Save as PDF and choose Save as PDF in the print dialog.
What carries over
| Kept | Simplified or lost |
|---|---|
| Headings, paragraphs, lists | Exact fonts (a similar style is used) |
| Tables and images | Headers, footers and page numbers |
| Bold, italic, links | Text boxes, shapes, columns |
| Tracked changes and comments |
Good to know
- The PDF follows the document's structure rather than its exact layout. For a pixel-perfect copy of a complex layout, use Word's own Save as PDF.
- Older
.docfiles need to be saved as.docxfirst. - To just read a Word file, use the Word Viewer.
