What it does
The Invoice Generator creates professional invoices with line items, tax, discounts and shipping, ready to print or save as a PDF. Pick from ten designs and eleven fonts, add your logo, and the totals are worked out for you.
How to use it
- Fill in From (your business) and Bill to (your client): name or company, address, email and phone.
- Check the invoice number (it starts with
INV), the issue date and the Due date. - Add line items with a Description, quantity and rate. Add line item adds a row; Duplicate and Remove are on each row.
- Under Tax, discount & shipping, choose one tax rate on the whole invoice (Total tax) or a rate per line (Line tax), and add a discount as a Percent (%) or Fixed amount.
- Pick a design, font and accent colour under Design, then switch to Preview.
- Print or save as PDF.
Example
| Item | Qty | Rate | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Website design | 1 | 1,200 | 1,200 |
| Hosting (months) | 12 | 25 | 300 |
Subtotal 1,500, discount 10% (−150), VAT 20% on 1,350 (270): total 1,620.
Good to know
- Drafts are kept in this browser only. Use Export JSON to back up an invoice or move it to another computer, and Import JSON to load it again.
- With Total tax, tax is charged on the subtotal after the discount. With Line tax, each line keeps its own rate, which suits mixed-rate items.
- Invoice rules differ by country. Many require your tax number, the client's address, a unique sequential number and the tax amount shown separately. Check what applies to you, or ask an accountant.
FAQ
How do I save the invoice as a PDF? Click print and choose Save as PDF as the printer. The page layout is already set for A4 and US Letter.
Can I make a receipt or quote from the same details? Yes. The Receipt, Quotation, Credit Note, Purchase Order and Proposal generators work the same way, and Export JSON / Import JSON moves the details between them.
