What it does
The Proposal Generator creates a project proposal with a written project overview first, then priced phases, payment terms and a client acceptance line. It suits agencies, freelancers and consultants pitching a defined piece of work.
How to use it
- Fill in Prepared by and Prepared for.
- Write the Project overview: the client's goal, your approach, the scope and the timeline.
- Add each phase or deliverable as a line item with its price.
- Set the payment stages in Terms, for example 50% on acceptance and 50% on launch.
- Set Valid until, preview, then print or save as PDF.
Example
| Phase | Price |
|---|---|
| Phase 1: Discovery & UX | 1,200 |
| Phase 2: Visual design | 1,800 |
| Phase 3: Development & launch | 3,500 |
| Total investment | 6,500 |
Good to know
- Lead with the client's problem and the result they get; the price reads better after the value.
- Break the work into phases so the client can see what each part costs and approve it in stages.
- Once accepted, invoice each stage with the Invoice Generator.
FAQ
What is the difference between a proposal and a quotation? A proposal explains why and how as well as how much. A quotation is mainly the price.
Should I include a contract? For larger projects, yes. Put the scope, payment terms and ownership of the work in a written agreement, and have it checked by a lawyer if the stakes are high.
