What it does
The URL Encoder percent-encodes text so that it is safe in a web address, and decodes encoded URLs back to readable text. The URL Parser breaks a full address into its parts (protocol, host, path, query parameters and fragment) so you can read long tracking links or debug an API call.
How to use it
- Choose the Mode:
- Component (encodeURIComponent) for a single query value or path segment.
- Full URL (encodeURI) for a whole address, keeping
:,/,?and&. - Form (+ for spaces) for HTML form data.
- Type into Decoded to encode, or paste into Encoded to decode.
- To inspect a link, paste it into URL to parse.
Example
| Mode | Input | Encoded |
|---|---|---|
| Component | price=10€ & tax |
price%3D10%E2%82%AC%20%26%20tax |
| Full URL | https://example.com/search?q=café au lait |
https://example.com/search?q=caf%C3%A9%20au%20lait |
Good to know
- Use Component for values you insert into a URL. Encoding a full URL with it also encodes
/and?, which breaks the address. - Non-ASCII characters are encoded as UTF-8 bytes, so
ébecomes%C3%A9. - In form encoding a space is
+; in a URL path it must be%20.
FAQ
Why is my URL encoded twice (%2520)?
Something encoded text that was already encoded: % became %25. Decode once here and check where the second encoding happens.
Can I see all the query parameters of a link? Yes. The URL Parser lists each parameter with its decoded value.
