QR codes for business: Wi-Fi, menus, contact cards and logos

By Uxair Ijaz · 2026-10-22 · 2 min read

QR codes are now the quickest bridge between paper and phone. Most phone cameras read them without an app. Here is which code to make for each job, and how to print them so they always scan.

Which QR code for which job

You want people to… Make a… Contains
Join your Wi-Fi Wi-Fi QR network name, password, security type
Save your contact vCard QR name, phone, email, company, website
See your menu or price list Menu or URL QR a link to the menu page or PDF
Visit a page URL QR the link
Email or text you Email / SMS QR address and a ready-written message

All of these are in the QR code generator.

Wi-Fi QR codes for guests

Choose Wi-Fi, type the network name exactly as it appears (it is case-sensitive), pick the security type (usually WPA/WPA2) and the password. Guests point their camera at the code and join, with no spelling mistakes. Print it for the reception desk or a table card.

Adding your logo

A logo in the middle makes a code look like yours. QR codes contain extra error correction data, so part of the code can be covered and still scan:

  • When you add a logo, the generator switches to the highest error-correction level (H) automatically.
  • Keep the logo small, about a fifth of the code's width.
  • Always test the final printed code with two or three different phones.

Styles and colours

Rounded or dot styles look friendlier than squares. Keep strong contrast: dark modules on a light background. Light-on-dark codes and pale colours are the most common reason a code fails to scan.

Printing so it scans

  • Size: at least 2 × 2 cm for close-up scanning (table cards, packaging). For posters, make it roughly a tenth of the scanning distance (2 m away → 20 cm).
  • Quiet zone: leave a blank margin around the code.
  • Shorter content, bigger squares: long URLs make dense codes. Use a short link for printed material.
  • Download SVG for print: it stays sharp at any size.

Many codes at once

Need a code for every table, product or employee? The bulk QR code generator turns a list into a ZIP of images. Combine them with the label generator to print sheets of labels.
