What it does
The Lorem Ipsum generator makes placeholder text for layouts, mock-ups and test data: any number of paragraphs, sentences or words, ready to copy.
How to use it
- Choose the Unit: Paragraphs, Sentences or Words.
- Set how many you need.
- Click Regenerate for different text, then copy the Placeholder text.
Example
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris.
Good to know
- Lorem ipsum comes from a scrambled passage of Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum from 45 BC, used by typesetters since the 1500s.
- Placeholder text shows how a design looks with text in it, but real content is often longer or shorter. Test with real headings and names before launch.
- Placeholder text left on a live page looks unfinished and can hurt search rankings. Search your site for "lorem" before publishing.
FAQ
Why use Latin-looking text instead of real words? Readers cannot help reading real sentences, which pulls attention from the layout. Lorem ipsum has a natural rhythm of word lengths without meaning.
Can I generate a set number of characters? Choose Words and adjust the count, then check the length with Text Tools.
